Henry Dennie Reaves (born December 3, 1844, Rahway, New Jersey; died April 25, 1911, Los Angeles, California) was a deaf teacher at New York School for the Deaf and Dumb from 1865 to 1883 when he left for California. He also attended the school from 1853 to 1865. In October 1870, he married Catharine Wistar Bache (born December 4, 1846, Pennsylvania; died October 30, 1915, Los Angeles, California) at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Brooklyn, New York. They had two children, Bessie Franklin Reaves (1872-1940) and Isabelle Franklin Reaves (1887-1959).
